Challenge
While the organization had great anecdotal evidence of its impact, MfA wanted to build a more robust evidence base showing how its program improved outcomes for teachers and students. They were also interested in using data to guide their future recruitment efforts.
Solution
We conducted a comparative study of MfA in NYC schools. First, we collected data on teachers’ employment, students’ performance on standardized exams, and teachers’ placements at schools across New York City. Then, we analyzed student and teacher outcome data and placement data to tell the story of the organization's impact and reach.
We reported the results to MfA’s senior leaders and board members, along with recommendations.
Results
MfA leaders were able to highlight results that inspired others to create new programs at the state and federal level based on their model in New York City.
MfA created a recruitment strategy informed by data showing the landscape of their current reach and gaps in particular geographic regions.
